Yet an UPDATE!

If you are still following this blog, then you know that I have been teaching,

while I get the whole summer off for a vacation!

So now my vacation is being used to create new stuff to take to shows!

I'll be in San Diego and then Dragon*Con so look for the new prints there!

After that I will be posting the prints for sale!

Here is the sign I have on my classroom door

Yet another BookFair

The Yets and I were at the Barnes & Noble in Erie PA. The students from Grandview Elementary School made some great drawings and some included the Yets.

 Here are a few.

 

Some students were scared of drawing so we decided that we can copy pictures and create our own new adventure!

 The funniest award goes to this drawing, it is Perry the Adventuring Guinea Pig when he gets up in the morning.

 

This was the runner up for the funniest drawing award.

I like the careful detail.

 We also decided that we could draw a Yet with our favorite dessert as well.

...with coffee or hot chocolate.

Andrew could not stop drawing, unfortunately his parents had to leave

after patiently waiting for 90 minutes.

 I never had a student draw Princess Peggy,  great job!

 Here is the world's biggest ice cream Sundae (fit for a Yet), with all the parts named.

Finally Henry drew a new sign for me with a Yet drinking a cup of coffee, and 

made sure to add my name an a portrait of me with my hat.

Yet to teach...

I want to post a link to my new(er) teaching site, because
 tomorrow I will be taking the final exam to be a certified art teacher.

I passed the test.
The passing score is 158 and
I received 187 out of 200 points.

Why I teach

So the Yets and I are in the classroom,student-teaching

working with some incredible young artists and animators!

(some of which I will post their YETS! art)

I have two placements to do this.

I just finished placement #1 and

I gave my cooperating teacher the YETS! books as a gift for their kids.

I just got this awesome card/reply in the mail...

This made all the hard work worthwhile. 

 Now to make time for new YETS! stuff.

if you haven't seen it. 

I will be posting my stuff from Drawlloween next month.)

Not writing A.P.A. style, Yet?

School stars early with an email...

ASSIGNMENT:  

"Please type and print a one to two page autobiography and bring it on Sunday. Tell us about your family, your time in schools before Mercyhurst(University), what you have been involved with and enjoyed at Mercyhurst (University) and most importantly why you want to teach and what you are looking forward to as a teacher."

So I did this.

My point is this, if you have creative students in your classes,

allow them to express an assignment in a meaningful way to the student.

I'll see if he accepts this, it isn't in APA Format.

Here is a whole website that compares a Yets' school with 

classrooms that I have been in and,

with downloadable art!

The site has many big expensive clinical terms

(I paid a lot of money for these words so I had to use them) 

Yet the cartoons are fun.
(pun intended)

Yet accomodations for the special child...

If you have a special(est?) child yet,

would you prefer using medications first,

would you be cooperative with doctors and teachers, 

would you blame yourself for your child's disability?

There's never an immediate answer...unless they breath fire.

I got very lazy and drew in pencil and I apologize.

I know it is popular to show some of the process of making comics so here

are two quick photos.

This is the layout sketch, I tend to draw with a 4H pencil or a blue pencil.

I like to capture any important facial expressions in a piece before I commit to ink

(or darker pencil lines in this case).

However, it all starts in a plain old notebook with scribbled dialogue.

I don't care about grammar or spelling as long as can get a rhythm to the scene.

I also change dialogue on the fly as I am lettering the final cartoon.

Nothing is permanent until it is published and

this way I have license to have a little spontaneity.

Yet a special need

So the problem was proposed,

Martha’s IEP states that she should take tests in a distraction-free room and be given extended time to take the tests. On the day of one test, her teacher was absent. Since prior preparations had not been made, Martha was forced to take the test in her classroom under standard time limits.

If you had been her teacher, what would you have done to avoid this situation?

...needless to say the teacher gave Martha two options of Monday or Wednesday.

Martha chose Wednesday, and then flew to lunch.

Yet a familiy quality of life in education...

 So would you be so supportive, Yet?

The Yets have not told me whether they are associated with any 

part of other educational mindsets such as Carol Dweck.*

So I apologize for any confusion.

*This is because the Yets only come with one mind and not a set.

Yet a learning difficulty

This prejudice from men is

the likely reason why

many Yets excelled in

kinesthetic and intrapersonal intelligence.

Yet naturally speaking...

...in response to class.

All I had to do was write a paragraph, but then this sketch

appeared in my sketchbook.

I want to draw it better at a later date.

Marks for books

I am going to be away at Origins Gaming Convention in Columbus Ohio.

What I did before my summer vacation.

I apologize for not posting, I've been using the Yets and cartooning in Harding Elementary School.

We've had a lot of success raising test scores and having fun!  You can track the progress at my Teaching Toons web site.  Now that the school year is almost over,

 I'll be posting more!
