Another Commission...framed

This is the framed piece for our Philharmonic.
I used a drum head with carriage bolts to hold it together.

Helping my friends a little....

I had the honor of critiquing a professional illustrator with a dragon illustration.
Phillippe  asked for help on facebook with this illustration ,
so I made a quick 10 minute "draw-over".
The point I make is to
make your humor readable,
so that any one in any language can see your joke.

another commission

I didn’t mean to stay away from the blog for a month!
I received a commission from our local Philharmonic.
They are celebrating their 100th anniversary, so
They asked artists to create a piece around musical instruments.
This was my initial sketch:
and here is the inked version at about  18"x24"
the painted version will shown next time.
...and I won't wait so long for the next post!

No rest Yet! ConDor Convention in San Diego!

So I got a message from the ConDor Convention in San Diego.

They asked, "We know it is late, but do you want to do our logo for this year's convention?"
I said, "Sure!"
They said, "Our theme is, 'There and Back Again' "
I said, "Sure!"
They asked, "Full Color?"
I said, "Sure!"
They asked, "ASAP?"
I said, "Sure!"
They said, "We can't wait to see what you do!"
I said, "...neither can I..."

Thirty six hours later, this was the final sketch and painting:

Guest Appearance

Well I wanted to update last week but I got an offer I couldn't refuse.
The local Philharmonic Orchestra asked me to step in as a guest artist.
They asked me, "Can you draw something for Wagner's Ring?"
I said, "Sure"
They asked me, "Can you draw four pictures?"
I said, "Sure"
They asked me, "Full color?"
I said, "Sure"
They asked me, "and draw live during our performance?"
I said, "Sure...
They asked me, "The performance is in 48 hours."
I said, ".......sure........."
They said me, "We can't wait to see what you do!"
I said, "Neither can I...."

Well here is the results, four 14'x17' paintings in approximately 36 hours.

They also gave me a free booth to show off the YETS!.

A good was had by all.
